Players can craft weapons from items (e.g., shivs, stun guns, whips) and are able to use tools (e.g., crowbars, brooms, pickaxes) to engage in melee combat with other characters. From a top-down perspective, players control a small figure through various aspects of prison life: meals, showers, searches, and violent encounters with guards and other inmates. This is a simulation game in which players must navigate their time in prison in order to find a means of escape. Rated T for Suggestive Themes and Violence.

It was released on Nintendo Switch on January 11th, 2018 and on iOS and Android on February 5, 2019. The game was developed by Team17 and Mouldy Toof Studios and was released on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on August 22nd, 2017. There is some bad language such as the L-m word, the h word,and doctors occasionally say this in the game, "The most sustained injuries are to the groinal region, fact!" And guards occasionally say at roll-call "shut your cake holes!"Overall I think it's cool but I wouldn't recommend it to younger kids because of the few bad things and difficulty level.The Escapists 2 is the sequel to The Escapists and the third game in the The Escapists series. I'm rating the age recommendation to ten and up because it's too hard for younger kids, and there's a few bad things. It has more content, and a LOT more character customization, better combat, graphics, multiplayer and more! This game is not updated that regularly. If you want a game that is being updated regularly, get The Escapists 2. You attend roll call and other events like dinners, showers, and more. You can anger guards and other inmates by attacking them, looking in their cells etc. You can do jobs around the prison which earn you money. You can find payphones around prisons at different locations and use them to get hints by paying money, (In-game money, not real money)! You also have a notebook where the things you've crafted appear.
#THE ESCAPISTS HOW TO#
You can craft a decent variety of things such as weapons, escape-aiding items, fake items to fool guards, and more! There's no way to know how to craft things unless you've watched a Youtube video or used a payphone. You can make friends and ally with other prisoners (There's no multiplayer). You can fight using your fists and a decent variety of weapons (There's no guns)! The fighting is just knocking out other prisoners and guards, even if you're using something as violent as a knife. You can customize your character with preset skins (There's not that much). The goal of the game is to escape prison, but that can be done in several ways. The controls are simple and easy to learn but, you can accidentally hurt people without meaning to. The Escapists is a retro looking prison escape game that has charming visuals.
